Calculus II

4. Indeterminant Forms and Improper Integrals

Description

With a firm foundation of differentiation and integration, we next explore L'Hospitals Rule in finding limits of indeterminant forms.  We apply this in finding improper integrals with infinit limits of integrals or integrals with an integrand that become infinite.

Sections of this topic include:

1.   L' Hopitals Rule

In 1696, Guillaume de L' Hopital published his rule which is a way of finding limits of introductory indeterminant forms.

2.   Indeterminant Forms

Exploring more complex indeterminant forms, we find methods of finding limits using L' Hopitals Rule.

3.   Improper Integrals; Infinite Limits of Integrals; Integrals with an Integrand That Becomes Infinite

We conclude this section in exploring integrals that may contain infinity in the limits of integration or integrating over an interval containing a discontinuity.  Here, we explore the idea of both convergent and divergent integrals.
