In this topic, we investigate many skills used throughout Algebra such as some basic concepts of arithemetic and algebra, common fraction operations, decimal and percent operations and some concepts from Geometry.

Sections of this topic include:

1. Basic Concepts of Arithmetic and Algebra

   In this section, we begin our study by writing statements using symbols; using order of operations; applying divisibility rules; factoring numbers; using order of operations with fractions; and comparing numbers.

2. Common Fractions

   Since fractions are a major component of Algebra, we refresh our skills with fractions. Groups within this section include reducing fractions; finding equivalent fractions; multiplying and dividing fractions; adding and subtracting fractions; performing more arithmetic with fractions; comparing fractions; and plotting points on a number line.

3. Decimal and Percents

   We continue our study of fractions by applying them to both decimals and percents. Groups within this section include writing fractions in decimal and percent forms; writing percents in decimal form; performing decimal arithmetic; solving percent equations; and performing decimal arithmetic using a calculator.

4. Some Concepts of Geometry

   Preparing to move forward in Algebra, we finsih our review of arithmetic by recalling more common concepts from Geometry. Groups within this section include Finding perimeter and area of figures; using the pythagorean theorem and calculators; finding areas of shapes; finding angle measures; and finding the volume of a Solid.
