In the subject of fractions, we begin studying concepts such as divisibility, multiples, factors, and factorization of prime numbers. Then, we turn our attention to how to reduce, add, subtract, multiply and divide fractions.
Videos about fractions include the following sections:
-
Divisibility
A great skill to develop is to determine when a number is divisible by another number. Here, we explore problems finding what numbers are divisible by 2, 3, 5, 6, 8, 9 and 10.
-
Multiples, Factors, and Factorization
A useful tool for future mathematics is to be able to factor a whole number to the product of it's prime numbers. Therefore, we spend the time and problems showing the process of prime factorizations.
-
Fractions
In this introduction, we explore what a fraction is and how to write a part of a whole as a fraction.
-
Simplifying Fractions
In this section, we show many examples of how to reduce fractions from simple problems to very complex problems.
-
Multiplying Fractions
Now that simplifying fractions has been addressed, we turn our attention to multiplying fractions. In this section, we show problems where we can multiply fractions as well as cancelling common factors and then multiplying fractions.
-
Dividing Fractions
After multiplication, comes division. Here we show how to divide fractions by changing the problem into a multiplication problem and inverting (or finding the reciprocal) of the second fraction.
-
Adding and Subtracting Fractions (Coming Soon)
The last skill to develop is how to find common denominators and to add or subtract fractions. Here we show many problems how to find the LCD (Least Common Denominator) and the process of adding and subtracting fractions.
